The Vespaccino Story
Vespaccino is a family business run by Eamonn and Jess and, increasingly, by their 7 year old daughter Grace! It was born from a combination of a long-standing dream and an unexpected lockdown project. Having worked for many years in the theatre and entertainment industry as a company manager, Eamonn has toured with many theatre shows and musicals. It was during these tours that the first shoots of his coffee shop dream sprouted. His touring espresso machine meant that the company office quickly became the social hub for the cast and crew and his touring coffee shop was born! Tour after tour, Eamonn’s company office coffee shop became well known throughout the theatre industry.
Then in March 2020 the lockdown happened and, along with many others, the theatre industry ground to a halt. Left with no income and lots of time on his hands, Eamonn looked to his previous career as a car mechanic and began buying classic cars to restore and sell on. After a couple of successful small restorations, he stumbled upon “Violet” the Vespaccino van in a lock up in Leicestershire. The idea was to restore the van to sell, but with the ongoing closure of the theatre industry Eamonn made the decision to convert the van into a coffee cart. A frantic few weeks followed sourcing equipment and the van was refitted and made ready. Family and friends were drafted in to complete the project, designing the amazing branding and creating our menu board. The pitch was found and less than six weeks after the van arrived, Vespaccino sold her first coffee in Moulton Public Gardens. The business quickly expanded and with the help of Moulton Parish Council, in January 2021 we moved into our permanent home in the park. In December 2021, we were hugely honoured to be awarded the title of Best Northamptonshire Cafe at the England’s Business Awards followed by a top 3 placing in the National award. The fact that this award was nominated by our customers makes it an incredibly proud achievement for us. We are very proud of Vespaccino and we are truly grateful to all those people, without who’s help and support, it may never have happened.
2022 saw the exciting addition of Poppy our 2nd Piaggio Ape who was quickly converted to be used as an events vehicle. Since launching her, we have brought our award winning coffee to many events and clients across the country.
